SMS Bank Scam Warning

ACMA warns of current SMS bank scam targeting Australasian banks

All mobile phone users please be aware of a new sophisticated SMS phishing scam currently going around. Criminals are targeting mobile phone banking customers in Australia and New Zealand.

The SMS includes a short message and a link to a URL that takes you to a fake mobile banking website which will steal your log in details, personal details and your money. It’s almost exactly the same as the real website. The web addresses being used are also similar to the real ones. A few examples of current bank websites are:

www.commbank.com.au
www.bankwest.com.au
www.anz.com
www.stgeorge.com.au
www.westpac.com.au
www.nab.com.au
www.hsbc.com.au

Make sure you know what your banks website address should be.
